CES Bike Rodeo '09
The 8th grade Effective Habits Class spent the morning on May 15 assisting Officer Cindy Cassi, the Kendall County Sherriff’s department and Comfort Volunteer Fire Department with the Comfort Elementary Bike Rodeo. This is the third year the class has participated in helping the children learn bike safety alongside the officers and fire fighters. Hunter Rust, student in the EH class said, “I liked it. I liked helping the younger kids learn to be safe.” Colton Reeh and James Pace both indicated the morning was fun and they were excited to help. Reeh fondly remembered participating in the event as an elementary student
Daughters of the Republic of Texas Essay Contest Winners
Mr. Oliphant’s 7th grade Texas History students won awards in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Essay Contest. Seventh grade students from all over the Hill Country participated. Chase Lindner was awarded 1st place. Comfort Middle School students also won 4 out of the 6 Honorable Mention Awards. Brittni Allerkamp and Kiara Pankratz were awarded the Honorable Mention awards. Sotera Lovett and Kenzie Billeiter were also winners. These five students will be receiving their awards on April 27th at a ceremony in Kerrville. Chase Lindner will read his award winning essay on the Angel of Goliad.

CMS Art Student's Take Home Blue Ribbons
The middle school art students entered the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, Hill Country Youth Art Exhibit. The best top 10% of each grade receives blue ribbons, and everyone else receives a red ribbon.

CMS was awarded 7 blue ribbons to the following individuals.

6th grade: Bianca Avila, Maddee Brown, Riddhi Bhakta, Savannah Morrow

7th grade: Hector Campos, Conner Thayn

8th grade: Yessica Vazquez

If you get the chance please go by the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center to look and all the kids’ hard work. It’s a white building right off high 27, behind the old Sid Peterson hospital. The show will be up until April 19th and the gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 am -4 pm, and Sunday 1 - 4 pm. Admission is free.

Also, if you see one of the kiddos who was awarded a blue ribbon please be sure to congratulate them.
