I teach Technology from Pre-K thru 5th grade. Our lessons include learning every aspect of the computer.
Pre-K thru Kinder are introduced to a program available online called "Starfall"
www.starfall.com. This program introduces phonics of the Alphabet and early reading techniques. Kinder classes focus on a math program called "Numeration". This program teaches them counting using images and charts. Eventually introducing addition in the simplest form and then subtraction.
Keyboarding is introduced to 1st grade and involves the student to learn their home row keys. 1st thru 5th graders focus on two main programs: "Type to Learn 4" and "TechKnowledge". "Type to Learn 4" is a brand new program with state of the art techniques, visuals, and cross-curriculum activities. The students really love it!!
3rd thru 5th graders are trained on our "PowerPoint 2007" program to be utilized in presenting Big 6 research projects for their classroom.
There are multiple math programs available on our student's computers, as well as a very popular program called "Study Island"
www.studyisland.com. This website focuses on the core curriculums: Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. It offers a unique and fun way to prepare for the TAKS.
Also provided are fantastic Educational Games that are located in a "Bonus Time" file created specifically for our students. They are given a bonus time the last 5 to 10 minutes of classtime.
