Honors Reading is a class for students who are reading to learn! These students will be exposed to a wide variety of genres, reading projects, and real-world reading extensions.
It is a rigoros class for those students that want to go above and beyond a regular reading class.

The Wilson Reading System directly and systematically teaches students how to fluently and accurately decode. It is unlike traditional phonics programs in that instruction is very interactive and multisensory. It also thoroughly teaches total word construction not just phonics. Students learn to encode(spell) as they learn to decode.

All students must be seated and ready to work when the bell rings. Each student is strongly encouraged to participate in class. Tutoring is required if a student is failing. All students are to respect class policies, procedures, and fellow students.Class policy is displayed in the classroom and all parents were required to read and sign a class rules and policy handout.

I am a native Texan, born in Brownwood. This is my 19th year of teaching. I have an extensive background in reading intervention and I am Wilson certified. Currently I teach Honors Reading, Reading, and the Wilson Program for CMS. My hobbies are reading, photography, tennis, and many others.

Comfort Middle School will provide differentiated instruction designed to facilitate the desire to become lifelong learners and productive citizens through excellence in academics and extra-curricular programs. Using teamwork with an emphasis on superior performance in academics and athletics, Comfort Middle School staff and parents will guide our students to become productive citizens in thier community.
