Article I Name
The name of the organization shall be Comfort FFA. However the name of the Comfort Future Farmers of America may be used as to designate the organization, its units or its members.
Article II Aims and Activities of the Organization
The objects and purpose of the organization are set forth in the section 3 of the organization’s federal charter, Public Law 81-740.
Article III Organization
The Comfort FFA is a Comfort ISD organization of, by and for the students of the Agricultural Education. The Comfort FFA chapter shall operate as an integral part of the instructional program of the Comfort Agricultural Science Instructional program.
A. Subsidiary chapters of the parent chapter may be established. They are to be organized and operated in accordance with all the provisions of the national, state and Local constitutions. Subsidiary chapters are coordinated by the officers and advisors of the parent chapter.

Article V Membership
Section A: Membership in this organization shall be three kinds:
1) Active
2) Junior FFA
3) Honorary
Section B: An active member shall be considered in good standings when:
1) While in school enrolled in at least one Agricultural Education class and have an approved SAEP.
2) This member shows an interest in, and takes part in, the affairs of the chapter. Attend local chapter meetings, strives for degrees of membership and participates in organized activities of the chapter.
3) This member pays dues regularly and act in a manner consistent with the ideals of the organization.
Section C: A Junior member shall be considered in good standing when:
1) Pay dues and be involved in activities available for Junior FFA members.
Section D: Honorary Membership: Farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the school board, chapter advisers, teachers, staff members in Agricultural Education, businessmen, and others who helping to advance agriculture and the FFA, who have rendered outstanding service, may be elected to honorary membership by majority vote of members present at any regular meeting or convention.
Article VI Active Membership Degrees and Privileges
Section A: There shall be four degrees of active membership based upon achievement.
(1) Greenhand
(2) Chapter Farmer
(3) Lone Star FFA Degree
(4) American FFA Degree.
The national organization shall set the standards for the degrees.

Article XI Chapter Officers
Section A: The Comfort FFA Chapter officers shall consist of a
President Vice president Secretary Treasurer
Reporter Sentinel
Student Advisor Chaplain.
Other officers may be elected as deemed appropriate by the local advisor and/or governing body. The local teacher/s of Agricultural Education shall be the local advisor/s.
Section B: Chapter Officers of the Comfort FFA shall be elected based on the following three-part system, in which each part is worth 1/3 of the candidate’s total score.
1. Each candidate must fill out an application.
2. Each candidate must participate in the officer interview. Interview committee should consist of FFA advisor(s), Outgoing FFA President (SR member only),
Community/Business person associated with the Comfort FFA chapter.
3. By plurality vote the chapter at a regular meeting or called meeting.
Section C: The Comfort FFA can only provide one district officer candidate at the district officer elections. District officer candidates from the Comfort FFA shall be elected based on the following three-part system, in which each part is worth 1/3 of the candidate’s total score.
1. Each candidate must fill out an application.
2. Each candidate must participate in the officer interview. Interview committee should consist of FFA advisor(s), Outgoing FFA President (SR member only),
Community/Business person associated with the Comfort FFA chapter.
3. By plurality vote the chapter at a regular meeting or called meeting.
Section D: The Comfort FFA can only provide one area officer candidate at the district meeting. Area officer candidates from the Comfort FFA chapter shall be elected based on the following three-part system, in which each part is worth 1/3 of the candidate’s total score.
1. Each candidate must fill out an application.
2. Each candidate must participate in the officer interview. Interview committee should consist of FFA advisor(s), Outgoing FFA President (SR member only),
Community/Business person associated with the Comfort FFA chapter.
3. By plurality vote the chapter at a regular meeting or called meeting.
Section E: The Comfort FFA can only provide one state officer candidate to run at the district meeting. State officer candidates from the Comfort FFA chapter shall be elected based on the following three-part system, in which each part is worth 1/3 of the candidate’s total score.
1. Each candidate must fill out an application.
2. Each candidate must participate in the officer interview. Interview committee should consist of FFA advisor(s), Outgoing FFA President (SR member only),
Community/Business person associated with the Comfort FFA chapter.
3. By plurality vote the chapter at a regular meeting or called meeting.
Article XII Meetings
Section A. Officer committee; The president of the FFA shall be an ex-officer member of each committee. Each officer shall be appointed as chairperson of the following committees:
Vice President Supervised Agricultural Experience
Secretary Conduct of meeting
Treasurer Earnings, Savings, and Investments
Reporter Public Relations
Sentinel Conduct of meetings
Student Advisor Alumni Relations
The president with will appoint the remaining committees with the approval of the local advisor.

Article XV Dues
Section A.The dues are $ 20.00 per school year.
Article XVI Amendments
Section A. Amendments to the local constitution and bylaws may be adopted at any regular meeting by two-thirds vote of the delegates present provide that a Quorum exists. Bylaws will require a majority vote of the members present provided that a quorum exists. Changes to the constitution and bylaws must be submitted seven days prior to the meeting.
COMFORT FFA BYLAWS
Article 1: The bylaws or amendments to the bylaws must not be in conflict with the Comfort FFA, Hill District, Area VII, Texas, or National FFA Constitution.
Section A. All provisions of these bylaws shall be considered a part of the constitution of the Comfort FFA Chapter
Section B. The first Greenhand to recite the FFA creed word for word from memory, on the same particular day will be awarded a free FFA jacket paid for by the Comfort FFA Chapter.
Section C. Motel and hotel accommodations for convention delegates and members are authorized to be paid for by chapter funds.
Section D. Memorials and/or flowers for deceased relatives and friends of the Comfort FFA Chapter are authorized to be paid from chapter funds.
Section E. Comfort FFA members attending conventions will be:
a.Award winners
b.Officers (Local, District, Area, State, National)
c.Others as selected by the advisor based on participation in the Comfort FFA chapter.
Section F. Comfort FFA officers shall be passing all courses at the time of election. Any officer(s) failing a course(s) at the end of any semester will submit their resignation at the next regular meeting, at which time the next officer in line will move into the removed officer’s position and a the lowest officer position will be refilled by due process of election (see Article XI, Section B).
Section G. All chapter officers shall be enrolled in an Agricultural Science class during their term in office.
Section H. Comfort FFA meeting expenses are authorized to be paid for from chapter funds.
Section I. All Comfort FFA fundraisers must have the local Chapter Advisor approval.
Section J. Chapter officers are required to attend all scheduled FFA events that have been scheduled for at least two weeks in advance.
a.Chapter officers will be allowed 5 “strikes” from their first day of election until the new officer team is elected the following year.
b.A strike will be awarded to an officer if they miss and scheduled FFA event that has been scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
c.Upon the officer’s 6th strike, the officer will submit their resignation at the next regular meeting.
d. The next officer in line will move into the removed officer’s position and the lowest officer position will be refilled by majority vote at the same meeting of the resignation.
e.Chapter President and Advisors will keep track of scheduled FFA events and “strikes”.
f.An officer shall be notified by a Chapter Advisor if they receive a strike.
